The Gamma Theta HKN Chapter at the University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR) mourns the passing of Emeritus Professor Gabriel "Gabe" G. Skitek (Oct. 25, 1919 - Sept. 23, 2006). Professor Skitek was an alumni of the UMR electrical engineering department, a veteran of the Army Air Corps (1943 - 1946), and a UMR faculty member for 35 years. He was a founding advisor of the chapter in 1952, established a departmental scholarship fund for HKN members, and was a regular attendee of HKN functions even after his retirement. In addition to his many professional accomplishments and teaching awards, the Gamma Theta Chapter honors him every semester by presenting a Founder's Award to the chapter member for notable service to the chapter. (His son, Dr. David Skitek, also became an electrical engineering faculty member. He founded the HKN Chapter at the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus.)
