Your tax deductible contributions are vital to expanding IEEE-HKN's service mission and its programs.

The following are the key new initiatives for 2009-2010:

Student Leadership Conferences
On October 21-23, 2011, Alpha Chapter at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, hosted the 2011 student leadership conference, "Engineering Creative Leadership for the Future." 13 chapters from across the country were represented in three days of networking with each other as well as learning about skills needed to succeed in the professional world.

Thanks to IEEE-HKN's contributors, there was no registration fee to participants. HQ hopes to continue these conferences widen the number of chapters and students that can participate.

Continued Expansion of the HKN Web Site
IEEE-HKN staff continuously gathers material to keep the IEEE-HKN Web site updated and to make it the first place our members visit for member, chapter, and organizational news. The awards program publicizes winners and offers nomination forms online for outstanding achievements. Most chapters are linked on the Chapter Directory and the officers and contact information changes regularly. Chapters that submit the Annual Chapter Report electronically will also have their activities linked to their pages. Career information is offered through Experience, Inc. and suggested scholarship databases are linked on the Planning for your Future page.
Alumni Contact

Another goal is to reacquaint alumni members who have fallen out of touch with the organization. We have reached out to our IEEE members, many of whom were inducted into Eta Kappa Nu, and continue to update our database with new addresses, email addresses and phone numbers. If you are in contact with members whom we may have lost touch with, please direct them to http://hkn.org/updateinfo/index.asp to update their information. Students benefit from role models and contacts in the professional world and we encourage companies to work alongside and recruit from the IEEE-HKN membership, as they know they will be receiving qualified applicants. We strive to keep IEEE-HKN the elite Honor Society it always has been.

LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites are viewed by many as the latest marketing and member correspondence tools. IEEE-HKN already has groups on these sites, and we encourage all of our members to keep in touch and grow their professional relationships.

THE BRIDGE Magazine

THE BRIDGE Magazine continues to receive positive feedback about the timeliness and value of the content. We continue to have our Member Profiles feature which includes interviews with IEEE-HKN members who share their experience in the professional world and what they wish they learned in school. If you are interested in submitting an article or being featured in a Member Profile, contact HQ at info@hkn.org

If your subscription has lapsed, we encourage you to renew and keep up with the latest news in electrical and computer engineering and the IEEE-designated fields of interest. Renewal forms are located here: http://hkn.org/bridge/HKN_The_Bridge_Subscription.pdf

HKN's success depends upon the support of its members. The organization continues to thrive as IEEE-HKN offers its members more benefits and opportunities for networking, professional development, and personal growth. All contributors are recognized annually in THE BRIDGE magazine and online, and receive organization updates.
