OYEE Award Becomes OYECE in 2005
Exceptional young engineers have been recognized annually throughout the United States since 1936 as Outstanding Young Electrical Engineers (OYEE) by the Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society. The award title has recently been updated to reflect HKN's adoption and recognition of computer engineering within the society. From 2005 forward, the OYEE Award will be known as the Outstanding Young Electrical and Computer Engineer (OYECE) Award.
HKN Changes 69-Year-Old Award to Include Computer Engineering Students
September 7, 2005 - Chicago – Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) recognizes computer engineering students through its prestigious Outstanding Young Electrical Engineers (OYEE) Award by changing the 69-year-old name to the Outstanding Young Electrical and Computer Engineers (OYECE) Award.
Since HKN recently invited top computer engineering students into its scholastic honor society, the century-old organization decided to rename its award accordingly to incorporate its new members.
Since 1936, HKN chapters throughout the nation have recognized the brightest electrical engineering students through the OYEE Award. Today, the same chapters will now include computer engineering students in the competition for the newly named accolade.
A great tribute to receive, the OYECE Award honors academic and technical accomplishments, as well as meritorious service to the community.
