Roger Plummer
Executive Director
Eta Kappa Nu

Executive Vice President
International Engineering Consortium

Mr. Plummer began his career with Illinois Bell as a management trainee in a high-risk program designed to determine potential for rapid growth to middle management.

He worked for the Bell System for 30 years. His early positions were in engineering, where he worked in outside plant and central office equipment planning. He was transferred to AT&T Headquarters in 1969 for a two-year assignment.

After returning to Illinois Bell, Mr. Plummer advanced through positions in engineering, network operations, sales and marketing to become its operations vice president. As the operations vice president, he was responsible for the activities of over 16,000 employees, was an officer and a member of Illinois Bell's Board of Directors.

In 1987 he was chosen to head a new business venture to place Ameritech in the systems integration business. He successfully created a new marketing focus which became especially important, because by the time Mr. Plummer retired in 1994, Ameritech was reorganizing to meet the demands of an increasingly competitive marketplace and many of his managers were sought for key roles in the newly restructured Ameritech.

He joined the International Engineering Consortium in 1995 where he provides leadership and manages its day-to-day operations.

Plummer has extensive civic involvement with an emphasis on education. Currently, he is on the board of trustees of DePaul University and WTTW, the public television station in Chicago. He is also on the board of directors of the Association of Public Television Stations; the University of Illinois Foundation and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He is past president and current member of the Advisory Board of Rush University Neurobehavioral Center --specializing in the treatment of children with non-verbal learning disabilities.

He is a former member of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees; former chair of Governing Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Emeritus Director of the Merit School of Music which helps young people achieve their full musical potential.

In addition to an engineering degree from the University of Illinois, Mr. Plummer has taken courses at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business as well as participated in executive development programs at Harvard and Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
